Phenomenal home cooking. The fried chicken and cabbage are to die for. We were passing through and luckily found Thelma’s!
If if if any of you are in the Mississippi area or passing through, do NOT let this place pass you by! I ordered my food in a to go box with the thought of eating some on the road...it was soOoOo good I ate it all right there at the restaurant!!!!! The service here is the true definition of southern hospitality! The family that owns/operates this restaurant will make you feel like apart of the family so quick. My kids didn't speak during lunch, that's unheard of for 8boys! The boys were so busy eating and each of them had clean plates! The chicken is so moist inside and the breading is seasoned so good and crispy! Everything is seasoned so nicely...If I could give over 5stars I would!
If you’re in Yazoo city Mississippi and looking for a good home cooked food or soul food look no farther than Thelma’s. They have a great variety of meats vegetables dessert sweet tea and lemonade. The staff is very nice knowledgeable the restaurant is clean very very good food please try if you were in Yazoo city
We love trying new places on road trips. This dining experience is definitely at the top of our list. BEST PORK CHOP EVER!!! All of it was amazing. And we even got to meet Thelma in person when she came to ask us if we needed refills. Excellent service, atmosphere, and food! If you’re pulling up places on google like I was in the passenger seat, trust me this is the place to pick! ❤️
This is what we were looking for. No trip home is complete without a plate of Southern Homemade Food. They have everything. And desert. 2 people eat for under $40 and the refills for tea keep coming. Bring ALL your friends. Family visiting? This is the place
Thelma’s Kitchen is definitely off the beaten path. And it is very unassuming. It was the only restaurant open in town on Sunday and it was right after church so the whole town was here. The catfish is very crispy, juicy and well seasoned. The Mac and cheese is pretty good. The collard greens were pretty good. The cornbread was a little dry and the sweet tea is perfect. The prices are reasonable and the staff are so friendly and hospitable.
We came through this little town going back to our home in Olive branch Mississippi We are so glad we found this restaurant! Everything is fresh and delicious! And the staff are so kind Authentic southern food!
It has been a few years since I've been here but I still think about the food, and today is one of those days. I'll probably never be back, the people I used to visit here no longer live here and it's just too far away from where I live. But oh man, this place is a highlight and if I were ever within 100 miles I'd go out of my way to eat here just one more time. It's like everyone's grandma got together and decided to open a restaurant and make their Sunday best every day. Fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese, banana pudding, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. If you are anywhere near this area, stop here. You will not regret it.
We found this lil gem was an amazing find. We were traveling through and found it open the food and the service was amazing!!! Would definitely recommend it!!
Hot and ready to order and eat. This southern kitchen with delicious home cooked meat and 3’s plates is just what I needed on my way home from my Daddy’s funeral… pure comfort food. My husband had the meatloaf, turnip greens, green beans and mashed potatoes and I had the smothered pork chop with sides matching his and we both had cornbread and sweet teas. The total was just shy of $34 and the food was delicious. I highly recommend you stop and eat at Thelma’s Kitchen if your travels take you through the Yazoo City area. We will be back!
